Dee has been in the desert long enough to have met local legends George Van Tassell, who built the Integratron in Landers, California and Edwin John Dingle, also known as Ding Le Mei, who began the Institute of Mentalphysics in 1927. Both the Integratron and Institute of Mentalphysics (also known as the Joshua Tree Retreat Center) are still in active existence As a journalist, Dee first visited the Hi-Desert in 1955 to cover the first Interplanetary Space Craft Convention at Giant Rock. A veteran newspaper reporter, she published the Yucca Valley News Weekly, then sold it in the early 80's to attend law school in San Diego. Dee continues to practice law in Yucca Valley and in this episode talks about the post office in a dry goods store, the missing audio and video from the Space Craft Convention and the changes she's seen over the years in journalism and this area she calls home.
