An only child of divorced parents, Lauren
grew up splitting her time between Joshua Tree and Landers. With no
siblings, imagination was key in creating the little worlds she
played in as a child in these isolated places. She also believes
the 1984 disappearance of a
toddler in Joshua Tree Joshua Tree National Park
not only heightened the awareness of local parents about the
whereabouts of their children, but also heightened her own, in
general, and believes this awareness translates to her
poetry.
